06:30 Secured Anchor light, and started hand pulling the anchor aboard. Used the deck brush to clean the anchor of the Fairlee creek bottom mud.Yesterdays opening was fun, even if my vice commodore forgot to introduce me,……07:35 Started the diesel, and flipped on all the nav gear in prep for departure.
08:00 Last ten feet of anchor up and anchor secured for sea with winch drum lock and safety line. Departed anchorage at Fairlee Creek for Baltimore Yacht Club.
08:05 Ran the gauntlet early this morning, leaving the creek before the tent people on the spit of land at the creek mouth had a chance to set up the row of judges in beach chairs. Incoming tide through the narrow inlet mouth made me feel like a spawning salmon swimming up stream. Run hard to the inlet, harder through the inrush, hang a left and clear the current, bump my ass once while trying to get back to REAL water.
Many thanks to the guy (Ooops I forgot his name) that talked me into this adventure…….
08:30 Back in deep water, raised the main and the Jib, set course to clear the ship channel and head for middle river.
10:40 dropped the main by head straight down wind. Waited ten minutes and dropped the jib as we rounded the day marker into Baltimore Yacht Club. The wind and sea gods like me today. Lost speed and let the current bring us to a stop 8 inches away and perfectly parallel to the fuel dock. Stepped off and announced “were here” waited for the dock folks to figure out our mooring arrangement.
11:00 Started the engine and back into the fairway landward for the fuel dock. Moored Starboard side too the fuel dock finger piers outboard of the moored slip holders.
