1030 Departed Baltimore Yacht Club Bound for Maryland Yacht Club
1400 Arrived Maryland Yacht Club
06:30 Secured Anchor light, and started hand pulling the anchor aboard. Used the deck brush to clean the anchor of the Fairlee creek bottom mud.Yesterdays opening was fun, even if my vice commodore forgot to introduce me,……07:35 Started the diesel, and flipped on all the nav gear in prep for departure.
08:00 Last ten feet of anchor up and anchor secured for sea with winch drum lock and safety line. Departed anchorage at Fairlee Creek for Baltimore Yacht Club.
08:05 Ran the gauntlet early this morning, leaving the creek before the tent people on the spit of land at the creek mouth had a chance to set up the row of judges in beach chairs. Incoming tide through the narrow inlet mouth made me feel like a spawning salmon swimming up stream. Run hard to the inlet, harder through the inrush, hang a left and clear the current, bump my ass once while trying to get back to REAL water.
Many thanks to the guy (Ooops I forgot his name) that talked me into this adventure…….
08:30 Back in deep water, raised the main and the Jib, set course to clear the ship channel and head for middle river.
10:40 dropped the main by head straight down wind. Waited ten minutes and dropped the jib as we rounded the day marker into Baltimore Yacht Club. The wind and sea gods like me today. Lost speed and let the current bring us to a stop 8 inches away and perfectly parallel to the fuel dock. Stepped off and announced “were here” waited for the dock folks to figure out our mooring arrangement.
11:00 Started the engine and back into the fairway landward for the fuel dock. Moored Starboard side too the fuel dock finger piers outboard of the moored slip holders.

Rigged Ship for in port, accepting shore services in the form of Power and scotch from the piers.
00:00 Continued transit to Fairlee Creek.
01:10 Approaching outer red bouy “2F” to find it is now a day marker, difficult to mnake out the channel markers for a fairlee channel. Found multiple red markers and a couple of small private green markers. Finally determined the channel which heads directly toward the beach. Closed on the shore until the private green markers along the beach were in line off the port. Made a 90 degree turn to port running parrallel to the beach stayed closer to the mid channel than to shore. Hung on an gravel bar mid channel. Backed off the bar and attempted again closer to the beach. Continued to the inlet and made a 90 degree starboard turn into the creek at slack low tide, very little current. Passed through the entrance and proceeded to inch toward anchorage while monitoring depth.
02:00 Dropped the plow anchor in 8 foot of water and set a 70 foot scope of all chain. Set anchor watch alarm on gps, secured running light and steaming light, energized anchor light.
02:08 secured engine and rigged ship for at anchor. Wind Generator on.
02:58 verified anchoring position, checked weather and secured anchor watch.
21:30 started engine, prepared to depart.
21:31 Nav lights and steaming light on.
21:33 departed dock, raised main, motor sailing in 1.5 knots to Fairlee Creek.
22:16 add jib, 4.5 knots of wind, nice motor sailing night.
23:59 continued transit.
Departed MYC for a short sail to check the function of the chart plotter at the helm and to just enjoy the afternoon. Nice calm day with very little in waves, and just a gentle breeze for coasting along.
Found a rip in the jib and had to come back in. Got the jib down and repaired, and hung again while sitting at anchor just off the club……
Grilled dinner, then came back and started to tie up. The Vice Commodore showed up and we decided to leave and do a night sail to make the opening of Great Oak Yacht Club.
